McLaren prize for Palme d’Or short film winner

MUMBAI: The National Film Board of Canada will award the Norman McLaren Prize to the winner of the Palme d’Or of short film, for the third year running.

The Norman McLaren Prize was created in 2005 under the aegis of the Cannes Film Festival, in memory of the pioneer of animated short film. The prize includes an offer, on an optional basis, to distribute internationally, the winning film or co-produce/invest in the director’s next short film. The NFB also announced that the cash prize has been increased this year to 10,000 Euro.

The Norman McLaren Prize will be awarded on 27 May 2007, after the Festival Closing Ceremony, during a private reception in the presence of the award winner, the chairman and short film and Cinéfondation jury members, says a release.
