Mumbai: Continuing to grow its consumer audience reach, Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.’s (MGM) MGM HD channel has secured carriage through the AT&T U-verseSM TV system, bringing the feature film hits and favorite television programming of the MGM library to U-verse TV customers in full high definition splendor. The announcement was made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios executive VP of worldwide digital media Douglas A. Lee.
"AT&T U-verse TV represents the future of entertainment," said Lee. "AT&T, as the only national provider to offer a 100 percent Internet Protocol-based video service, delivers a level of service integration that allows consumers to watch their favorite MGM movies and TV series on demand and in virtually any location with ease."
U-verse TV customers will receive MGM HD channel as part of the service’s HD Premium package, a new tier which can be added to an HD service subscription for an additional $5 a month. AT&T U-verse TV HD service is available for $10 a month with any U-verse TV programming package.
Taking the lead among Hollywood studios to convert substantial theatrical library assets to the superior broadcasting format of high definition, the MGM HD channel has already proven its popularity with consumers in the U.S., having previously launched on cable systems such as Comcast and Time Warner, satellite services like DirecTV and Dish and Verizon FiOS. MGM HD also operates throughout Europe.
Audiences can look forward to exclusive behind the scenes coverage of red carpet events, sneak peeks at new films in production, seasonal promotions and world premieres of newly re-mastered hits from the MGM library.
