MUMBAI: MGM International Television Distribution is heading to MIPTV in Cannes (30 March – 3 April, 2009) with film and television titles including three high profile motion pictures — Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig, Tom Cruise’s suspense-thriller Valkyrie and The Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau.
Adding to the slate is MGM’s new television series Stargate Universe, which is currently in production starring Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips and Ming-Na. Based on the Studio’s record-breaking Stargate franchise, the new series is scheduled to premiere in the U.S. this Fall.
“We are pleased to bring an array of star driven feature film and television properties to this year’s market. There is also a big appetite internationally for quality sci-fi series and we are excited to introduce buyers to the latest installment of our Stargate franchise, which promises to be edgier and more hip to appeal to today’s fans,” said Gary Marenzi MGM Worldwide Television co-president Gary Marenzi.
In addition, MGM will also be offering buyers animated product as well. The studio is bringing Pink Panther & Pals, a new 26 episode half-hour show based on the Pink Panther franchise, slated to premiere in the US in February 2010 on the Cartoon Network along with 13 episodes and a one hour pilot of the Mel Brooks’ comedy Spaceballs: The Animated Series, which currently airs on G4 in the US.
