Mumbai: The Picture Association (MPA) announced the promotion of Christopher P. Marcich to President and Managing Director of its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Marcich has been associated with EMEA activities for 13 years, He previously served as senior vice president and managing director for MPA in the region.
"Now, more than ever, the global marketplace is a primary source of business for our companies, and we need empowered leaders who can effectively advocate for their interests in complex and ever-changing foreign markets," said Motion Picture Association of America chairman and CEO Dan Glickman. "We are fortunate to have someone of Chris’ experience and accomplishments to serve as the voice of the major film studios in this part of the world. He is extremely deserving of this enhanced title. It reflects both the confidence we have in his leadership and the continued and growing importance of these markets to our members."
With his new role, Marcich will oversee commercial developments in the region, guide development and implementation of anti-piracy strategies, advocate for digital rights management and pursue collaborative efforts to promote intellectual property rights. As President, he will serve as the MPA’s voice in the region and in a number of international organizations.
Marcich assumes his new title immediately and will report directly to MPA president and COO Bob Pisano. "Chris has been an excellent leader for our industry before the EU and in these critical markets," said Pisano. "Whether the issue is piracy or advocating the sector’s interests, he has a proven record and strong relationships in this part of the world."
