Sony Pictures Television names Canniffe as VP – development, alternative prog.

Mumbai: James Canniffe has been named vice president, development, alternative programming at Sony Pictures Television (SPT), it was announced by reality and syndicated programming senior vice president Holly Jacobs to whom he will report.

In this position, Canniffe will contribute to all alternative projects for network and cable, as well syndication programming. More specifically, he will be responsible for the development of reality network and cable series as well as overseeing the current shows in production.

"Jamie is a highly regarded show runner and we’re thrilled to have him join our team," said Jacobs. "His enormous wealth of production experience will be a tremendous asset to us as we ramp up our alternative and syndication slate."

An Emmy-nominated producer, Canniffe recently finished production on Greatest American Dog for CBS as co-executive producer. Previously, Canniffe served as co-executive producer on reality shows such as The Apprentice for NBC and Crowned for the CW.
