Universal Music Classic Management Prod partners First Classics

MUMBAI: Universal Music Classical Management & Productions (UMCMP) and First Classics GmbH have inked an innovative long-term agreement for organizing concerts in the field of classical music.

With First Classics, the chart-topping classical stars represented by UMCMP and Universal Music Group gain access to the only nationwide network in 10 cities and 27 concert series of leading, regionally-experienced classical music concert organizers and the best concert halls in Germany. And First Classics gains preferred access to the world’s leading classical artists of UMCMP and UMG in Germany.

Moreover, fans and classical music artists alike will now benefit from the most comprehensive, extensive and creative national presentation of live classical music in Germany. Both companies will work together to deliver innovative and dynamic classical music programs to fans, with initial projects debuting this autumn and on a larger scale in the 2010/11 season. Existing contracts for UMCMP artists will be honored.

"As we continue to expand our business and further Universal Music Classics’ leadership as the industry’s only full-service classical music company, we are delighted to be working with Andreas and all of the key promoters across Germany that make up First Classics. Working to create, package and promote concerts for great artists will not only round-out what we are already doing in the areas of recorded music, management, media and merchandising, but allow us to create even more opportunities for our artists and management clients," said Universal Music Classics & Jazz president Christopher Roberts.

"For us, First Classics is the perfect partner because it focuses on artistic quality and reaches out to a well-informed public that wish to experience the stars of classical music as well as new artistic developments. By working closely with our group’s labels such as Deutsche Grammophon and Decca, we will, through this new partnership, be able to present artists in Germany more successfully than ever before. We are already working intensely together with our partners on the 2010/2011 season," added UMCMP managing director Manfred Seipt.

"The partnership with Universal Music opens up new opportunities for us to include top international stars on our prestigious concert series and also allows us to familiarise our public with the stars of tomorrow," added First Classics managing director Andreas Schessl.
