Visa in promotional alliance with Disney in A-Pac

MUMBAI: The Walt Disney Company (Asia Pacific) and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort today announced their renewed alliance relationships with Visa.

Under the renewal, Visa will continue to be the "Official Card of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort."

In addition, it also covers other businesses, including Studio Entertainment (Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Music Group, Disney Theatrical Productions), Disney Interactive Media Group and Disney Consumer Products, and will allow Visa to have the exclusive right to first negotiations on sponsorship, promotional and marketing opportunities that involve Disney-branded initiatives.

The deal will cover Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) and represents an extension of the original 2005 agreement which was one of the largest integrated marketing arrangements for Hong Kong Disneyland and Disney in the region at the time. The relationship will provide an opportunity to participate in innovative marketing opportunities that will deepen both parties’ relationships with consumers, merchants and Visa’s member financial institutions throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Visa will offer a range of promotional offers at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort to its cardholders through selected card-issuing banks, including special dining and accommodation offers at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel; and special merchandise offers at the Resort.  "The renewed corporate alliance relationship between Disney and Visa supports broad and comprehensive integrated marketing opportunities for Visa and its 600 Asia Pacific client banks and Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney’s movies, live entertainment shows, interactive media, and consumer retail promotions. It is testament to the value Disney creates for its corporate sponsors in driving incremental business," said Walt Disney senior vice president – corporate alliances Lawrence Aldridge.

"This renewed deal is significant because the best known entertainment brand in the world is working with the leading global payment brand to bring better value to our common customers.  With this alliance, we are able to increase the value we bring to our client banks to help them cater to their Visa cardholders and we hope that Visa cardholders across the region will take advantage of the great deals and services that have been and will be made available to them," said Visa general manager – marketing, Asia Pacific, Rajiv Kapoor.

"We are very pleased to continue our alliance relationship with Visa. We look forward to working with Visa to generate more benefits to our Guests and Visa cardholders," said Hong Kong Disneyland Resort managing director Andrew Kam.

The deal is effective immediately and will be in place until 2014.
