MUMBAI: After a successful nine month run in the radio arena, Big FM goes further to justify its name by unveiling some big plans – an array of modifications in their programming.
The station has scaled up the humour quotient by roping in stand-up comedian Raju Shrivastav to co-host the breakfast show ‘Big Chai’, along with RJs Archana Jani and Vrajesh Hirjee.
Other innovative concepts include the Twenty-20 World Cup cricket, in which cricket and entertainment will be clubbed for the listeners. Following this will be Sabse Sasti Diwali, giving way to heavy discounts on various products. Chipak Ke Dekho, known as the radio stunt, will allow the winner to drive home a car and Ek Saal Free Maal will declare one lucky winner who can live one entire year free of cost.
Says Big 92.7 FM national programming head Manav Dhanda, “What makes our station going is that it’s local and hugely interactive. We have tailor made properties that will meet listener requirements that will work well on a daily basis, enduring listener delight.”
Talking about introducing celebrity RJs, he adds, “We’ve always had someone or the other on our show. We have had Shekhar Suman for quite some time now. Raju is here and we look forward to a great show with him.”
They have geared up for promotions and branding as they launch their new strategies. “Branding is very important. If you want your listeners to remember your radio station, one has to go that extra mile. We will be promoting each and every new offering by Big FM in a big way,” states Dhanda.
To grace the evening, Naresh Iyer wooed the crowd with his youth tracks Paathshala and Roobaroo, Vasundhara Das rocked the night with ‘Where’s the party tonight’. Among the other performers, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Shilpa Rao, Raman Mahadevan were also seen setting the stage ablaze with their sensational vocalizing. But Anushka Manchanda took the centre stage with her husky tone humming Golmaal and Naughty Naughty (Cash).
