Jannat: T-Series, Bhatts settle; Sony BMG gets music

MUMBAI: Sony BMG has finally acquired the music rights of Jannat – In search of Heaven, produced by Vishesh Films.

Post a much hyped legal debate between T-Series and Vishesh Films, T-series withdrew its legal claims and both the parties have settled the issue amicably with the intervention of AMPTPP president Pahlaj Nihalani and Dispute Settlement Committee members.

Sony BMG had been claiming that the music rights of Jannat belonged to them, however it had to be put under the scanner after T-Series claimed similar rights.

A compromise has been reached between T-Series and Vishesh Films in which the former had to withdraw its claims on the music rights and other accusations thus handing over the exclusive rights to Sony BMG.

Vishesh Films is known for belting out musical superhit albums – from classics like Aashiqui and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin to recent hits like Raaz, Murder, Zeher, Woh Lamhe and Gangster. In the recent past, Vishesh Films has been working only with T-Series and Saregama. With Jannat, Vishesh Films has taken their first step with Sony BMG as a long term music partner.

The music of Jannat has been composed by Pritam. He has had a string of hits last year with films like Jab We Met, Bhool Bhulaiya, Dhoom 2 and many more. The music of Jannat is touted as one of the best ever—both from Vishesh Films and Pritam.
