South superstar Mahesh Babu who is currently making headlines for his film Srimanthudu success had earlier announced to adopt Burripalem village, which is said to be his father’s birth place, in Andhra Pradesh. The superstar has said that now he would also adopt a village in the backward Mahabubnagar district of Telangana.
In response to a suggestion made by Telangana’s Information Technology and Panchayati Raj Minister K T Rama Rao, Mahesh Babu took to his twitter handle to make an announcement that he would adopt a village in the district of Telangana.

The superstar tweeted, “Very Humbled after receiving a congratulatory call on the success of Srimanthudu from Minister PR&RD @KTRTRS.”
The series of tweets also included, “He suggested I adopt a village from the most backward district of Mahbubnagar as part of their #GramaJyothi initiative. I said YES, more details to be announced soon..,”
The village is the native place of Mahesh’s father and actor Krishna. The ‘Grama Jyothi’ programme aims to empower gram panchayats. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on August 17 had launched the ‘Grama Jyothi’ programme at Gangadevipalli village near Warangal for a good initiative.
In the recently released action-drama “Srimanthudu“, the actor played the role of Harsha, who adopts a village to look after the welfare of people living in rural areas. Movie Srimanthudu is based on a tale wherein a Billionaire opts to adapt a village and brings out change. Srimanthudu means Billionaire, is directed by Koratala Siva. The film stars Mahesh Babu and Shruti Haasan in lead roles.
