Mammootty Replaces Mohanlal As General Secretary Of AMMA

MammothyAssociation of Malayalam Movie Actors (AMMA) has appointed its new positions of the executive committee for the year 2015-2018. According to which megastar Mammootty has replaced Mohanlal as the General Secretary of the association, joining them after a gap of 12 long years. The committee members believe Mammootty‘s association with AMMA as a positive sign and has already laid gown agendas for the coming years.

According to the current executive committee appointments, Innocent continues to be the President. Mohanlal and Ganesh Kumar KB are the Vice Presidents, Mammootty is the General Secretary while Edavela Babu is the secretary and Dileep is the Treasurer. Committee members include Nedumudi Venu, Mukesh, Siddique, Devan, Maniyanpill Raju, Kalabhavan Shajon, Prithviraj, Nivin Pauly, Asif Ali, Remya Nambeeshan and Cuckoo Parmeshwaran.

AMMA which is the first ever actor’s association of Indian cinema has inspired other regional film industries to form their own actor’s association. The smooth functioning of the association is ensured by the committee members who meet periodically to discuss the various attributes regarding AMMA’s agendas. The association currently has over 320 members. AMMA favours and protects its members by acting as a governing body over the Malayalam industry.

Providing monetary stipend relief to senior retired actors, to find out the issues concerning the artists, to analyze them and to find out possible remedies, to act, if required, as an advisory body to Government Departments connected for the upliftment and development of the film industry and particularly Malayalam film industry are some of the goals of AMMA according to their official website. The association currently aims at giving aid to the weaker sections of society as well as providing scholarship to the young and bright students of this generation.
