Anusha Dandekar gives it back to Kishwer Merchantt and Suyyash Rai by writing this open letter.
The ugly spat between VJ Anusha Dandekar and actors cum couple Kishwer Merchantt and Suyyash Rai, seems to have no stopping. The fight started off with a story posted by Kishwer on her Instagram page where a few of her friends were seen enjoying some random conversation. They are seen talking about food and one of her friends in the video is heard saying, ‘I want pancakes’.
Anusha and Gaelyn picked the above-quoted line and started making fun of Kishwer Merchant’s friend’ accent. Instead of making fun and laughing out at the same in private, the two girls recorded the video and put it up on social media.
The couple found the post by the VJs offensive to which both of them reacted by lashing out at Anusha and Gaelyn. Both the VJs were even criticised by the common people for being insensitive and judgemental.

Anusha had been very quiet on the issue for a very long time. She had just replied by saying, “Relax, we weren’t making fun of anyone, we wouldn’t do that…The video made us laugh…Wasn’t meant to offend anyone.” She had also added, “And we are both Indians! So please it was never about the accent, the video was funny, that’s it! @kishwersmerchantt.”
But now the VJ has had enough. In an image posted on Instagram, which contains a long open letter, Anusha has made herself clear. In the message, she writes, “To my loves, I guess I have stayed quiet long enough. And the undying support & love is forever appreciated from the bottom of heart.”
She adds on saying, “Being born in Africa, raised in the UK & mostly Australia, I have actually lived most of my life in my motherland, it’s funny anywhere I ever go or have lived, coming back here always makes me feel safest & at ease. So the fact that anyone made this about racial discrimination just because I have a different accent, isn’t that racist too? In this 10 sec video we laughed at WHAT he was saying, it was nothing to do with accents, or English. When we mimicked him, again it was about WHAT he was saying!”
She also apologised saying that her intentions were not to hurt anyone.
Well, it will be interesting to see what Kishwer and Suyyash have to say on this!
