The television bug has finally bitten Bollywood superstar and yummy mummy Kajol. The gorgeous actress seems to have taken a cue from Anil Kapoor, and is in advanced talks to star in a television series.
The serial in question is an adaptation of the Danish drama series, Forbrydelsen (The Crime). This is turn is an adaptation of American hit show, The Killing.
The Danish drama, which also has a critically acclaimed American remake The Killing, revolves around a veteran investigator Sarah Lund. The show follows the police investigation of one specific case, day to day, with each hour-long episode covering twenty four hours of the investigation.
In a hat tip to Anil Kapoor’s recently concluded, mega successful television show 24, this series too will be constricted to one-hour episodes, following the case lasting 24 hours in toto.
Said a source, on condition of anonymity, “Kajol is a movie star who will attract a lot of eyeballs on television. She loves the part but the character may turn from a detective to a cop. She is currently working out her terms and conditions with the production house and the broadcaster.”
He also added that through Kajol has verbally agreed to starring, she is in talks with the channel and production house to work out the terms of employment.
When contacted Chief Executive Officer Of Endemol India, the company producing the show, Deepak Dhar, did not deny the story. He simply said, “We cannot comment on market speculation. We will make an official announcement soon.”
Kajol was also offered another series that was being helmed by Rensil D’Silva. She was bowled over by Rensil D’Silva‘s twenty seven episode fiction show, scripted by Priya Pinto, which revolved around a single mother living in an joint family in Delhi. Looks like this one will have to wait as Kajol has already given a nod to the Indian adaptation of The Killing.
Here’s wishing Kajol all the best for her television debut.
