MUMBAI: It’s festival time in Bollywood in the following weeks and it begins with the dahi-handi celebrations. Several stars joined in the festivities spread across the city while the likes of Arjun Rampal, Shah Rukh Khan also attempted to break one! Meanwhile Shah Rukh Khan has also launched another of his business ventures called Kidzania. These and many more are the Top Moments this week.
Bollywood Dahi-Handi – Janmashtami is not complete without Bollywood songs and dance. And this year was no different as several stars from the tinsel town made appearances (for free or otherwise!!) at several dahi-handi festivals. Arjun Rampal (who also broke the handi with his head), Siddharth Malhotra who flashed his abs!, Aditya Roy Kapur, grooved audiences with his baseless voice! And if that wasn’t enough, the mighty likes of Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan also made appearances and enthralled audiences.
SRK Mania – Shah Rukh Khan is taking the role of a common man too seriously! Riding high on the success of his film ‘Chennai Express’, the actor was present at not one but two dahi-handi events and entertained audiences with the dialogues of his films, some dance and of course the latest trend – The Lungi Dance! The star also is taking up his role as a entrepreneur seriously as he launched ‘Kidzania’ an education-cum fun project for kids aged 4-14. The project fascinated Shah Rukh Khan when he was at Dubai and he made his mind to get it to India as well and launched it in grand style.
Sonam Kapoor Protests – Outraged by a photojournalist’s rape in Mumbai, Sonam Kapoor and a few colleagues came out to the streets of Mumbai in protest of the atrocities against women. Reprising her rebellious role from ‘Raanjhanaa’, Sonam was truly the highlight as she voiced her angst on women safety laws.
Om Puri Fiasco – Bollywood was abuzz with Om Puri having absconded at a time when his wife Nandita Puri accused him of domestic violence. The actor was seen at the Mumbai Sessions court and has got anticipatory bail in the case.
While the week began on a sad note, with dahi-handi celebrations all seems to have ended on a high! At the movies too, ‘Madras Café’ is steady with ‘Chennai Express’ still in competition.
