One of the highly anticipated Tamil films releasing this year is Kamal Haasan starrer Papanasam. The theatrical trailer of which was released yesterday and fans are already rejoicing over the actor’s new family drama. The story is a crime fiction thriller based on the lives of a family of four.
Kamal Haasan who plays the character of Suyambu Lingam is a cable operator who has a loving family of two daughters and wife. Circumstances make Suyambu play with the law and order of our country in order to assure the safety of his family. The film stars Gautami Tadimalla, Nivedita Thomas and Asha Sarath amongst others. Release date of the film is yet to be announced.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph the film is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam that was critically acclaimed and won several awards including Kerala State Film Awards. The original cast included south superstar Mohanlal, Meena and Asha Sarath amongst others. Asha Sarath was awared Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film and once again she will be playing the same role in the Tamil Remake of the film.
Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain, which was recently caught up in a lot of controversies, is supposed to release today. However according to latest reports the film’s release schedule has been delayed due to some financial issue between the producers and the theatre officials. The problem is currently being sorted out and the film will hopefully be open for afternoon shows.
