[tps_footer]The first trailer of the highly anticipated Highway, starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda was launched on Monday, December 16, 2013 in Mumbai. From the director Imitiaz Ali, to actors Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt, to the music maestro AR Rahman – all were present at the launch evening. Also present was Imtiaz Ali’s daughter Ida Ali.
Highway is a journey of a girl who goes through a lot of emotional as well as physical twists and turns, as she travels through various states, with her abductors. Love blooms, and she eventually falls in love with the man who abducted her. The caption in the trailer reads: In Bondage, She Found Freedom. This is neither new or fresh, and many such films have already been made. But, what is important is how Imtiaz Ali tells the story, in his way.
At the launch event, the trio – Imtiaz Ali, Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda donned t-shirts displaying the film’s name. Alia used a bit of creativity, and paired the t-shirt with a black jacket, denims and black boots. Queen of style, as she is fondly called, as people are yet to get over the Shanaya they’ve seen so far.
Highway has been shot in six states of North India, and it captures the landscape of those regions very beautifully – this is visible in the trailer. Alia wrote on Twitter, “Launching the theatrical trailer of my second and very special film Highway. Very nervous to be honest. Please, love it.”
This is the first time that Alia and Randeep will be sharing screen space. “I learnt a lot while working with Randeep. He spoke about motivation, and following your thoughts,” said an excited Alia at the event.
“I was a bit confused when Imtiaz came with the offer. At the same time I was overwhelmed that he came up with a challenging film and role. I am nervous, and will remain so till the film releases. It keeps me on my toes. Working on the film was an amazing experience. I enjoyed this journey a lot,” Alia further said.
Highway releases on February 21, 2014.
