Vinay Pathak was a regular in his previous films and that seems to continue in director Shashant A Shah’s new film ‘Bajatey Raho’. But this time, Vinay Pathak also has Tusshar Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey and Dolly Ahluwalia for company as they try to con Ravi Kishan in this revenge-drama.
The trailer for ‘Bajatey Raho’ starts off with the entire family of four deciding what to do ahead. No one knows what has happened or who has done it. But the character beats are set. Dolly Ahluwalia is the head of the house, the matriarch. Of the three brothers, Ranvir Shorey seems to be the hot-headed one while Vinay Pathak seems to be the thinking man. Tusshar Kapoor’s character seems like the brother who will go along with what looks to be the major decision.
We are then introduced to Ravi Kishan’s character, a businessman who owns dairies. The family is out to take their money, and reputation, back. Dolly Ahluwalia gets in on the action too as the family pose as authorities raiding a dairy owned by Ravi Kishan’s character. This scene is reminiscent of the film ‘Special 26’, released earlier this year, which had similar scenes of Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar’s conmen characters posing as authorities raiding various politicians and traders.
The revenge con-job in ‘Bajatey Raho’ seems to revolve around gathering an insane amount of money in a few days although the trailer never gives away the reason the family needs the money. The film contains a few quirks, for instance, Ravi Kishan’s character stores his money in refrigerators. Add to this scene a hilarious bhajan version of the famous song Tu Mera Hero and you know you want to watch this scene immediately.
The remaining trailer for ‘Bajatey Raho’ shows snippets of Tusshar Kapoor’s romance (was a romantic track necessary?), an item song (‘Naagin Dance Nachna’) and the family’s attempt to gather the money while masquerading in different costumes – we counted policeman, businessman, bhajan singer and household helpers. The comedy seems decent and the film contains a little action too as portrayed in the foot and car chase sequences.
