Mumbai: Sony Pictures’ 22nd James Bond installment Quantum of Solace starring Daniel Craig will be releasing in India on 7 November prior to its US release.
However, the movie will be first released in the UK where it hits screens on 31 October. Quantum of Solace’s US release has been scheduled for 14 November to coincide with the long Thanksgiving weekend.
This is for the first time in the history of Hollywood that a film will release first in India, followed by the US.
Sony Pictures Releasing India managing director Kercy Daruwala said, "We are delighted to have such a huge franchise in our lineup. James Bond has a huge equity in this country and Bond films have always been a hit here. 7 November will see the biggest roll out for any Hollywood film in India as we would like to give our audiences the thrill of seeing Quantum of Solace even before US does. Our endeavour is to make it the biggest, best Bond film ever."
Quantum of Solace is a sequel to 2006’s Bond flick Casino Royale, which was based on Ian Fleming’s novel. The film is directed by German-Swiss film maker Marc Forster. It also stars Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arterton, Dame Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Giannini.
