MUMBAI: Abhinav Kashyap may have directed Salman Khan to one of his biggest hits in ‘Dabangg’, but for his next film after ‘Besharam’, Abhinav Kashyap may direct Salman Khan’s arch-rival Shah Rukh Khan.
Abhinav Kashyap was to direct the sequel to ‘Dabangg’ – ‘Dabangg 2’ – for Salman Khan, but left the film after differences over the direction of the film. Allegedly, Abhinav Kashyap had then written a script called ‘Project 18’, which he was to direct with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, but that did not work out.
After that attempt, Abhinav Kashyap managed to get Ranbir Kapoor to star in his film ‘Besharam’. ‘Besharam’ is set to release in October this year.
Reports say that Abhinav Kashyap has been meeting Shah Rukh Khan to discuss the script and they may make an announcement soon. It is not known whether this script will be a new one or a rehash of the ‘Project 18’ one.
At this point in time, Shah Rukh Khan has films in line with many other directors too. He will soon begin shooting for Farah Khan’s film ‘Happy New Year’. The other films he has lined up are a period-based film with Siddharth Malhotra directed by Karan Johar. Reports say that he might also star with Amitabh Bachchan in R Balki’s next. Anurag Kashyap, Abhinav Kashyap’s elder brother, too plans to make a film with Shah Rukh Khan.
