MUMBAI: Legendary thespian and veteran actor Dilip Kumar and his beautiful wife Saira Banu have just returned from Umrah in Saudi Arabia. And now the legendary actor and superstar has another pious desire: he wants to perform Hajj soon.

We caught sight of Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu at the Mumbai International Airport last evening. Dressed in a pale yellow kurta, Dilip Kumar looked at peace, having achieved his heart’s desire to perform Umrah. And now, he and his loving wife Saira have set their sights on another pilgrimage: that of Hajj.

Saira Banu spoke for herself and her husband, when she mentioned they were extremely joyous after performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia. She added that their wish is now to get an opportunity to go for Hajj together.

Said a peaceful and joyous Saira Banu, 68, at the airport: “It had been a wonderful experience. We had always wished to go to Umrah and by god’s grace we did that. And now my only wish is me and Yusuf sahib (Dilip Kumar) should go for Hajj. I pray to god that we get an opportunity to go to Hajj.”

One of the finest actors of Hindi cinema, Dilip Kumar, is known for his legendary roles in ‘Devdas’ and ‘Mughal-e-Azam’. Dilip saab, as he is reverentially known, who recently turned 90 years old last year, “was also very happy after going to Umrah. We are extremely happy now. It’s a very peaceful experience in my life,” said his wife Saira.

Umrah is a holy pilgrimage to undertaken to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and it can be done at any time of the year. However Hajj can only be performed during Eid-ul-azha, where people travel to the same place, in Mecca.
