Baahubali In The Oscar Race?

Directed by S. S Rajamouli, Baahubali is the biggest film ever made in Telugu cinema with more than 200 crore budget. The film became the biggest opener of 2015 soon after the release. The action drama film Baahubali, released on more than 3000 screens in India. On its first day, Baahubali saw over 50% footfalls in theatres.

The film, which starred actors Rana Daggubati, Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles, released in four languages, and had got massive response from all over the world. Even the servers of multiplexes crashed when online bookings were opened.

And guess what? It is said that Baahubali is the first movie to walk in the Oscar race this year. According to the reports, five Oscar selection panel which is headed by Amol Palekar, will study over 45 films and select India’s official entry for the next Oscars in Hyderabad. As per the announcement of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, it is said that Baahubali which was globally hit too, is the official entry for Oscar. The official confirmation on the same will be made on September 25.

Reportedly, Baahubali is the official entry from the Telugu film industry. Also Aamir Khan’s PK, Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom and few other films are excepted lists for the Oscar in the Bollywood category. According to the chamber, the last Telugu film that made an entry to Oscars was K Viswanath-Kamal Haasan‘s Swati Mutyam. It’s been over 29 years; a Telugu film got an Oscars entry. The final selection will be revealed on September 25.
