Box Office: Could Aamir Khan’s Dangal Beat Salman Khan’s Sultan Opening Day Record?

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which is based on ex-wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two wrestler daughters Geeta and Babita, has finally released today at the Box Office. Since the film has released, everyone is gripped and waiting to see if Dangal could beat Salman Khan’s Sultan opening day collection. Sultan was a wrestling drama film while Aamir Khan’s Dangal is an inspiring story of a living legend: Mahavir Singh Phogat. Though Sultan and Dangal are the same genre films, the story of both the films is quite different.

Well, Sultan released a day before Eid at the Box Office, which was one of the advantages.  Aamir Khan’s Dangal has released on a normal Friday with no other releases along. Despite releasing on non-holiday, could Aamir Khan’s Dangal beat Sultan’s opening day record? Nitesh Tiwari directorial Dangal witnessed the opening of around 55-60% on day one in the morning shows and is expected to show huge growth by the weekend. Dangal is likely to grow in places where the film got the lowest opening than Sultan. On the other hand, this year’s biggest release, Salman’s Sultan had a bumper opening of 70% on day one and the collections were also marvelous of around Rs 38 crore (380 million) approx. This means Dangal has become the second highest opener of the year with Sultan being first.

Well, Aamir Khan is known to dominate the Box Office and it is expected that Dangal will break many records ahead. The genre of the film is not only meant for multiplexes or for single screen audience, Dangal is a real Hindi film for the wider audience across the country.
