The first day collection of the Sonakshi starrer comes to Rs. 4 crore net approx. The earnings are termed as very low. The collections of the movie were better in the evening than in the morning. Akira which is a woman centric film has not been able to beat Sonam Kapoor’s film Neerja and Priyanka Chopra’s Jai Gangaajal.
Due to limited promotional activities and lack of popular tunes, the Murugadoss directorial failed to create magic on the single screens. The film is solely dependent on good reviews and word of mouth publicity. The other Bollywood releases like Sunshine Music Tours and Travels, Dark Chocolate etc. have no substantial results at the box office. The collections of Akira will depend on Sunday wherein most films garner good earnings.
