Breaking Silence: Anurag Basu Clears The Air Over ‘Prison Break’

Rumours were abuzz that Anurag Basu has grabbed the remake rights of American series ‘Prison Break’. The director clears the air on the rumours.

MUMBAI: Anurag Basu started off his career directing television soaps and had directed India’s most successful running television soap of the 90’s.

And there were huge rumours spread across leading tabloids today, that the director has grabbed the remake rights of ‘Prison Break’. A detailed report stating that Anurag Basu and his editor of ‘Kites’, Brett Ratner has facilitated the re-make deal for ‘Prison Break’ has been doing the rounds since this morning.

It was also reported that Anurag Basu will not only don the role of a co-producer, but will also be the creative director of the show.

This comes second in line after Anil Kapoor. Kapoor is currently shooting for the Indian remake of ‘24’ directed by Abhinay Deo. While ‘24’ is slated for debut on Indian television this Independence day, Anurag Basu laughs off over the rumours of him remaking ‘Prison Break’.

His latest tweet says:

The ‘Barfi’ director surely seems to be surprised at the whole affair. As far as ‘Prison Break’ is concerned, well it is quite a hit across the world.

Its presence in India is just eagerly awaited as Anil Kapoor’s desi version of ‘24’.
