MUMBAI: The latest twist in the ‘Chashme Buddoor’ vs ‘Chashme Baddoor’ saga is that the original film is all set to release side-by-side with the remake on 5 April.
As part of PVR’s ‘Director’s Rare’, the original 1980’s cult classic super hit is gearing up for a re-release on 5 April. Probably to remind audiences that an original is an original, and a remake will never be able to match up, comes the decision to re-release the original ‘Chashme Baddoor’ on the same day as David Dhawan’s remake will hit screens.
Spotted at the special screening at PVR Juhu, to announce the re-release were the original film’s stars Farooque Shaikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi and filmmaker Shona Urvashi. The film, which also starred late funnyman Ravi Biswani, will see a digitally remastered version release.
In the entire history of Indian cinema, it has never occurred that the audience can choose between watching a digitally restored version of an original and the remake, which both release on the same day!
