After Aadar, it was the female lead the director was worried about. So he has chosen a Delhi girl Anya Singh as the female lead for the film.
When asked about casting a fresh face in the film to the casting director, Shanoo Sharma, he said that Aditya Chopra always looks for fresh faces and finding new talent. When the casting for this film was taking place, the team kept looking for girls from Delhi, Chandigarh and other cities from the North. While looking, the team kept Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma’s talent recipe in their heads.
The casting director also said that the team wanted a talent that came out of nowhere and conquer the industry. To them, Anya filled that space of requirement and straight away got into a 3-film deal with the Yash Raj Films.
When Shanoo showed Anya’s audition to Habib Faisal, he commented that she gave a crackling audition and that he was liking her. Although Habib Faisal found her to be a bit childish but he takes her kiddishness in a positive way and says it will work in the favour of the film’s story.
