MUMBAI: Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster’ has returned in a more sleek and stylish avatar. The sequel, inevitably titled ‘Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ has a host of new characters, but the film reportedly picks up from where the first part left off.
‘Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ saw a grand launch in Mumbai, with the ensemble cast in attendance. Jimmy Shergill returns to essay the role of a ruined Sahib, hanging on to the glory of the past, while his ‘biwi’ or wife Mahie Gill continues to have affairs with other men. This installment of the film will also see Irrfan Khan as a new character, introduced in the sequel. Soha Ali Khan is another star who’s been added to the cast.
Jimmy was totally in character at the ‘Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ launch: in an aristocratic outfit, replete with a sherwani and a yellow turban. Soha and Mahie played the nobleman’s demure wives, in traditional vintage outfits. Irrfan looked dapper in a dark suit at the first look launch.
The director, Tigmanshu Dhulia expands on the ‘sex’ quotient in this film. “There is sensuality but in little measure. I feel that it is effective only like that. It should have the right amount of sex and passion.”
Speaking about the sequel, Dhulia said that he had already sowed the seed of the sequel in the previous film and has taken the story forward in ‘Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’. “We had left the germ of the sequel in the previous film itself. It is not a franchise and we are taking the story ahead. Irrfan Khan’s character is also a new element which has been added in the sequel.”
