Governor's Reply To Sanjay Dutt's Plea To Cancel Jail Term

Munnabhai actor Sanjay Dutt is currently out on parole and is serving his 42 months sentence in the Yerwada jail. The actor who has been criticized a lot for his back to back paroles is yet again going to encounter some deep hassle.

Sanjay Dutt is out on a 30 day parole and the actor had also appealed for a cancellation on jail term. Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju himself made the plea for pardoning Sanjay Dutt in the year 2013. After a gap of two and a half years, the Maharashtra Government has finally come to a conclusion of Sanjay Dutt’s fate.

Governor Vidyasagar Rao has rejected Sanjay Dutt’s petition on the suggestion of the Home Department. According to reports, it is being said that the Home Department was in favor of the rejection of the petition because they believed that Sanjay Dutt was convicted by the highest order of law and not abiding by the same would come out as a bad precedent.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is serving his punishment for the illegal possession of arms in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. The actor was jailed in the year 1996 for 18 months and then was granted a bail. Again in the year 2013, the highest order of law Supreme Court sentenced him to five years in prison. Altogether, Dutt was supposed to spend 42 months in prison excluding his 18 months in the year 1996.

Dutt has been drawing innumerable flak for his paroles and furloughs. The actor is targeted for using his star power in the area of law. Since his imprisonment, Sanjay Dutt has been out on parole twice and has been on furlough for a couple of more times.

Currently, the actor has taken the 30 parole citing his daughter’s serious illness. Reports suggest that Sanjay Dutt is granted the parole as his daughter is supposed to be treated for a nose surgery.
