The 16th edition of IIFA awards is back to dazzle its audience. In the recent revelations a lot of updates were given regarding the locations and guest list of the event by the organizers. This year’s IIFA Awards 2015 will take place in the beautiful city Kuala Lumpur that is the capital of Malaysia.
Bollywood’s most happening awards International Indian Film Academy Awards will be returning to Malaysia after 13 years to dazzle the Malaysian Bollywood fans. Last IIFA held at Malaysia was in the year 2002. Organizers revealed that Bangkok, Thailand and Madrid were amongst the places considered to host the awards of this year.
Andre Timmins who is the spokesperson for IIFA stated, “We are going to Malaysia in the first week of June. We had a great time in Malaysia in 2002. We are coming back after 13 years. It is a great destination; a lot of our movies are being shot there off late so it will enhance the business locally. It is going to be fun. We were in talks with Bangkok and Madrid. We are going to continue our dialogue with Spain for hosting future editions but Malaysia won it because the country connects strongly to India and Bollywood and also in terms of business and tourism.”
Timmins further revealed plans of inviting South Indian superstars as special guests for this year’s IIFA Awards. Last year’s IIFA saw Hollywood superstars Kevin Spacey and John Travolta amongst others. He stated, “We are going to work around what we normally do like there is going to be fashion, music and the main awards. What we did with Kevin Spacey and John Travolta we are going to do that this year with south stars. They are extremely popular. We will make them do things that they have not done in the past. Kamal Haasan has come to IIFA very often. We will try to get Rajinikanth, Vijay, Kamal, it all depends on who is available at that time.”
Bollywood celebrities attended the weekend voting event of IIFA awards’ 16th edition. Actors Anil Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Huma Qureshi, Ayushmann Khurrana, Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor amongst others were the first to arrive and cast their votes. Actor Anil Kapoor took to his Twitter account to express his excitement of going to Malaysia for IIFA. He tweeted, (TWEET) “Can’t wait for reveal of this year’s IIFA destination #IIFA where will we all be partying in 2015!”
