Juhi Chawla Rocks As The Evil Force In Gulaab Gang

GULABGANG003[tps_footer]One look at the promo of Gulaab Gang and what stands out is Juhi Chawla.  She for the first time is essaying a character with grey shades.

Juhi was initially worried about the audience reaction as she was for the first time doing such a character.  However the response of the trailer has been very encouraging and a beaming Juhi stated, “When I read the script, it was great, but by the end of it, I said ‘Why will I do this role? People will not believe me if I do this role’. But finally, when I took it on, I thought it would be fun to do something different. I said yes to the film because of two reasons; Madhuri was in it and secondly the script.”

The chance to work with Madhuri Dixit in a film like Gulaab Gang was crucial in her decision; as such kind of projects are rarely developed. In fact, Juhi was offered to work with Madhuri in the 1990’s when their careers were at there peak and Juhi has refused thinking that there would be comparisons and also the fact that they rivals. But today the scenario is totally different.

“As far as I think, this was the last chance I got to work with an actor like Madhuri. I don’t think we will get a chance to work together in future again. It happens once in a lifetime when we get a script where we can work together with such dedication. That’s why the film is exciting for us as actors.” stated Juhi.

Co-written by debutant director Soumik Sen and producer Anubhav Sinha, the film is inspired by a group of women activists in the Bundelkhand region that fight against injustice within their society.

WATCH THE TRAILER:
Although it is not an official biopic according to producer Anubhav Sinha, Gulaab Gang is clearly inspired by real-life Sampat Pal and her group of activists. Sampat Pal is the lady who came into limelight in the year 2012 when she was one of the housemates of Bigg Boss Season 6.

Gulaab Gang is set in rural background. The idea of this film is to empower women and get them educated so that they can fight violence and abuse.

The film is set to release on March 07, 2014.[/tps_footer]
