MUMBAI: Karan Johar who is currently busy directing ‘Bombay Talkies’ with three other directors is already thinking of making a sequel for the film.
‘Bombay Talkies’ is an anthology film for which four of Bollywood’s finest directors have come together. The film will consist of 4 short films by Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee and will be starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherji, Saqib Saleem, Katrina Kaif, Randeep Hooda, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The music will be given by Amit Trivedi.
The four directors came together to talk about the film; on asking them to tell us more about this upcoming anthology; Karan Johar said:
“I am not sure of what the theme was and what it has become. The spirit of coming together is what should resonate. There is an underlying aspect in each film. It shows each one’s individual passion behind this. Dibakar’s film will show angst, Zoya’s film is on creative freedom and Anurag’s film is about madness and insanity which we give to stars. My film is about music and emotion.”
Anurag Kashyap was the first amongst the four to come on board with this idea. “I was the first one to sign it. I was scared. But this is the first time that I have not used a single abuse in the film!” said the director.
Dibakar Banerjee said that he always likes to do something he hasn’t tried before: “I wanted to do something which I haven’t done before. I wanted to make an out and out emotional film. This is a tear jerker from my side. I wanted to choose emotions and make something anti cinema” “I wanted to give it a regional flavour, so my film has a Marathi as well.” added the ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhoka’ director.
On the other hand, Zoya Akhtar had a condition before she decided to get on board. The ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ director told us: “I said that I will do it if I can make what I wanted to make. They allowed me to do it!”
We look forward to seeing this unique and interesting film which is due to release on 3 May 2013.
Karan Johar expressed his desire by telling us that he would love to collaborate with the three directors once again after a few years to make a sequel to the film! “There Must be a sequel ‘Bombay Talkies 2’ said Karan Johar.
