Sridevi along with husband Boney Kapoor was recently in Tokyo for the premiere of her comeback film English Vinglish.
English Vinglish premiered in Tokyo on Thursday and is slated to release across thirty three screens in Japan on June 28, 2014
Sridevi posted a photograph of herself with Akie Abe, wife of Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and wrote. “With Ms. Akie Abe, First Lady of Japan, at the premiere screening of Madam in New York (English Vinglish) in Tokyo.”
It is following the exceptional success of the Gauri Shinde‘s English Vinglish in new markets like Hong Kong, Germany, Taiwan and Korea that Eros International Media Ltd. decided to give the movie a wide release in Japan.
The buzz for English Vinglish in Japan began last year itself when Gauri Shinde was invited to attend the prestigious Aichi International Women’s Film Festival in August 2013 for the screening of the film.
The Japanese market has already proven to be a strong one for Eros with the company releasing Farah Khan‘s Om Shanti Om in 2013 across fourteen screens.
The other films that have been released in Japan are – Chalo Dilli, Agent Vinod and Student Of The Year.
