When we saw Emraan Hashmi in Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai, we were pleasantly surprised. The serial kisser of Bollywood had finally figured out his true potential. The film gave him recognition of an actor and not only a sensual hit maker.
Today, he is doing an international film called White Lies, directed by Danis Tanovic, the man who snatched away our Oscar for Lagaan and got it for No Man’s Land. Now we hear the director is keen on taking the film to Venice Film Festival to contest for the prize.
Denis confessed at the European Film Festival at Leece about his intentions. He would like his film to compete at the fest. White Lies is a first of its kind Indo-France collaboration, where Emraan will be seen playing the role of a poor man from Pakistan who gets entangled in a mesh woven by corrupt corporates and how he fights them.
Amyra Dastur and Supriya Pathak are the other members of the cast. The project is making a lot of noise as not is the protagonist an Indian actor, the co-producers are Anurag Kashyap and Shikhya Entertainment. Such foreign collaborations will definitely benefit the industry.
