On January 26, US President Barack Obama addressed an event where he spoke about a range of issues and made a strong pitch on religious tolerance.
During the speech he mentioned Shah Rukh Khan’s name along with Olympian Milkha Singh and boxer Mary Kom.
During the speech Obama said that he and Michelle Obama could not shake a leg during their trip, the way they did with children in Mumbai 2009.
He said, “In my last visit we danced with some children and celebrated the festival of lights. I apologise for not being able to schedule a dance this time,”
On this Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan expressed his feelings by tweeting on twitter that, “Proud 2 b part of the gender & religion equality speech of Pres. Obama. Sad he couldn’t do the Bhangra…next time Chaiyya Chaiyya for sure”.
In his speech, Obama made one more reference to SRK, first while apologising for not being able to dance by saying in broken Hindi, “Senorita, bade bade deshon mein… you know what I mean,” he said, followed by a loud cheer from the 2000 strong audience.
