Rohit Shetty has become Bollywood’s highest paid director by charging a whooping amount for his next project which will be a Tamil remake. Reportedly, producer Sangeeta Ahir has roped in Rohit to don the director’s hat, and for which Shetty has charged a whooping amount of Rs. 25 crores! Yes, you heard that right. The ‘Chennai Express’ director is surely at the peak of his career as production houses are lining up to make him select their project.
When asked about the same, Sangeeta Ahir confirmed the news by stating that she has in fact paid the handsome amount to rope in Rohit Shetty. The director who is currently shooting his upcoming film ‘Dilwale’ with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon will soon be returning to Mumbai to finalize the deal. Ahir is confident about her decision as she believes that Rohit has a brand image of himself, which is worth the cost.
Apparently the film will be a Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ which was a big hit. Being a comedy film, the genre is Rohit Shetty’s forte as the audiences have loved and cherished his ‘Golmaal’ film series. So naturally, the 25 crores have been spent well! Well this sum is something new actors like Ranveer Singh, Sidharth Malhotra and all charge, so for a director to be paid as much is surely a big news.
Reportedly another one of the directors who gets paid as much is Rajkummar Hirani who is tied up with Vinod Chopra’s production house and charges a part of the film’s profit as his remuneration. All of his films like ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ and the recent blockbuster ‘PK’ have touched sky-high at box office. Imagine how much Hirani must have taken home then? Well he sure deserves it!
The film is currently in its building stage as the script has not been finalized and no actors have been approached. We are certainly excited to see what Rohit Shetty brings to the table after making headlines just for the film’s remuneration!
