MUMBAI: Viacom18 Motion Pictures production, the biopic ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has finally made it to the coveted Rs 100 crore club in its fourth week. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s film had a strong fourth weekend run at the box office to emerge a winner.
By the end of its third week, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ had trumped over all new releases to stand at a whopping three week total of approximately Rs 963.5 million (Rs 96.35 crores) net.
With another approximate Rs 65 million (Rs 6.5 crore) net in its kitty in the fourth weekend, the film has by now collected Rs 1.0285 billion (Rs 102.85 crore) net.
Starring Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta and Prakash Raj has also hugely benefited from the tax-free status granted to it. The film began its journey at the ticketing windows, with fantastic opening day figures in the range of Rs 92.5 million (Rs 9.25 crore net) on Day 1. Collections rose to approximately Rs 320 million (Rs 32 crore net) by end of the first weekend.
The week 1 total for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ stood at a strong at about Rs 526.6 million (Rs 52.66 crore) net.
Once the tax exemptions were applied, business soared in the second weekend, with cash registers ringing to the tune of Rs 172.5 million (Rs 17.25 crore) net. By the end of the second weekend, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ had accumulated figures in the range of Rs 739.7 million (Rs 73.97 crore) net.
