Box Office: 2 States Beats Salman Khan’s Jai Ho In Its Second Weekend!

2 states jai hoThe Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer, 2 States has been doing roaring business and has turned out to be one of the highest collections in 2014. 2 States has managed to collect approximately Rs. 740 million (Rs 74 crores) nett  at the Indian Box Office in just ten days.

2 States had collected approximately Rs. 590 million (Rs 59 crores) nett in the first week of of its release and has had a great second weekend collections showing its strength for strong second week collections.

Not to forget 2 States opened with a bang at the Box Office. It has managed to get a terrific opening especially at multiplexes in all metros. 2 States opened very well at multiplexes with collections of around fifty five percent.

2 States has managed to beat the second weekend collections of the Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho by approximately Rs 1 million (Rs 1 crore).

Jai Ho’s second weekend collections were Rs. 140 million (Rs 14 crores) nett approximately while 2 states has managed to collect Rs. 150 million (Rs 15 crores) nett approximately as per early estimates.

The Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala co-produced romantic comedy film has touched the right cord with the youth and has maintained great business at the Box Office during the weekend as well. While the overall collections which stand at approximately Rs. 740 million (Rs 74 crores) nett have still to surpass the second highest collections of 2014, Gunday.

The second weekend collection has managed to give 2 states a strong start and is touted to enter the 100 crore club soon.

While the Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho collections seems a little far fetched for 2 States to collect, the film could well reach the Rs 100 core mark and become the second highest collecting film of 2014 behind the Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho.

A screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel by the same name, 2 States is the story about a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Tamil girl, and the ensuing cultural clashes between them and their families. The film is being directed by Abhishek Varman.

A huge round of applause to team 2 States and we do hope that it reaches the 100 crore mark sooner than expected.
