Ajay Devgn starrer Action Jackson has made a substandard business on its first Monday. With no big movies released alongside and the previous big banner movie, Ungli showed up below average at the box office, Action Jackson still under performed. In spite of having a one week clear window, the movie has failed in garnering the expected opening day and weekend collections and the Monday figures locked at Rs. 5 crore (50 millions)
Made on the budget of Rs. 75 crore plus and having released in around 3000 to 3500 screens the movie managed to rake in the net collections of Rs. 30 crores (300 million) approximately at the Indian box office in its first weekend. Off which the majority numbers came from advance bookings. Hence, the movie has made Rs. 35 crores (350 millions) in four days, which is not at all an impressive figure for Ajay Devgn starrer.
The expectations were high from this Prabhu Dheva directed flick, as it starred Ajay Devgn, who has given a film like ‘Singham Returns’ that made impressive collections at the box office. The way Action Jackson was presented to the audiences; it turned out to be a sheer disappointer. Being a film for the masses and not the classes, it saw a good occupancy in the single screens compared to the multiplex.
With the big bang ‘PK’ releasing next week on December 19, Action Jackson stands a chance to at least recover its cost , which looks difficult but, can’t say as the single screens are still at its rescue.
Its high time audience get value for their money and the only hope for the year to end on a good note is Rajkumar Hirani’s Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer PK.
