Box Office: Action Jackson Fails To Make A Decent Weekend

Action-Jackson-Box-OfficeAction Jackson opened to negative reviews not only by critics but also from the audiences. The movie has become a piece of criticism tale; none of the elements in the film have worked out for this Prabhu Dheva directorial, Action Jackson. Made on the budget of Rs. 75 crore plus and having released in around 3000 to 3500 screens has managed to make the business of approximately
30 Crores (300 Million) net at the Indian box office in its first weekend. Released onNovember 05, the movie fetched a decent numbers in advance booking based on the promotions which raised the expectations from this Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer. Being a film for the masses and not the classes, it has seen a good occupancy in the single screens compared to the multiplex.
Termed to be a typical Prabhu Dheva film, the film saw bad word of mouth publicity and only those who love watching his massy films made the part of audience. The opening day business was decent; but when compared with Ajay Devgn‘s last release ‘Singham Returns‘ the business was not even 35% .Collections dropped on Saturday and picked up well comparatively on Sunday mostly at the single screens.  However, the film needs to rake in more numbers at the box office to recover its making and promotion cost.
With the big bang ‘PK’ releasing a week later on December 19, Action Jackson still stands a chance to at least recover its cost, which looks difficult but, can’t say as the single screens are still at its rescue.
And hence, with Action Jackson, the disappointment continues. It’s been a long time since we have got to see or write about a good film genuinely making good business at the box office and give audience a value for their money. Well, now all hopes on Rajkumar Hirani’s Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer PK.
