MUMBAI: Despite unfavourable reviews, the Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites has taken the second best opening day collections after 3 Idiots in India.
Kites did a net business of approximately Rs 104 million (Rs 10.40 crore) on Friday, which is second best to 3 Idiots’ Rs 130 million (Rs 13 crore) net. However, it must be pointed out that Kites did lose out on approximately Rs 50 lakhs in collections from Karnataka due to the ban.
Recently, Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull did net business of approximately Rs 90 million (Rs 9 crore) on its opening day across India.
According to initial reports, on Saturday the occupancy for the movie in the 12 pm show across theatres is said to be approximately 30 – 40 per cent less than that of Friday due to negative word of mouth publicity.
Kites’ paid previews on Thursday brought in business of approximately Rs 17.60 million (Rs 1.76 crore).
