MUMBAI: That Aamir Khan’s has the "Midas Touch" is being spoken of widely these days. However, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and the verdict is out.
Aamir Khan Productions’ Peepli [Live] has had a super opening weekend at the box office and has done net business of approximately Rs 155 million (Rs 15.50 crore) across India. It has been distributed by UTV Motion Pictures and was released across more than 600 screens.
While the net collections on Friday stood at Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore), Saturday and Sunday saw a significant jump. Peepli [Live] has done particularly well in Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab. For a movie of this genre and that too without A-list actors, the box office performance is unprecedented.
