Bollywood film ‘Shaandaar’ starring Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor released yesterday on a holiday, and has finished its first day run at the box office. The film managed to collect less than what was expected given the festive holiday factor. ‘Shaandaar’ that released on the occasion of Dussehra, managed to collect only Rs. 11 crores net approx (110 million). The number is quite low from the expectations given the fact that it had an advantage of an important holiday to pull crowd.
The film has performed the best in Mumbai and Delhi regions were maximum of the collections have come from. The collections in Delhi region were Rs. 2.55 crore net approx and in Mumbai it comes around Rs. 3.50 crores net approx. The film has not done well in Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Although the film has become the best opener in Shahid Kapoor’s career.
‘Shaandaar’ enjoys a four day weekend due to the holiday yesterday, and the actual collections will reflect today on Friday. The film’s standing in box office today will decide what its first weekend collection would be like. The film gathered decent crowd at the morning show on opening day with an occupancy rate of around 35%.

‘Shaandaar’ is a romantic comedy film which sees a rich family going abroad for their daughter’s wedding. The film sees Shahid Kapoor as the wedding planner who is fun filled to the core. Alia Bhatt plays the lead heroine who later falls in love with Shahid. Shahid’s sister Sanah Kapoor plays the role of Alia’s sister in the film. All in all it is a film that will appeal to the youth as well as the elder audience giving it more scope nationwide.
‘Shaandaar’ is directed by Vikas Bahl who is still enjoying the legacy of his film ‘Queen’ which was a huge blockbuster. The film also stars actors Sanjay Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor and also a special appearance by Karan Johar. After a slow start, we’re now waiting to see Shaandaar’s Friday collection as well as first weekend at the box office.
