R… Rajkumar, the Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha starrer, arrived on Friday, December 6, 2013. Critics wrote the film off, and it received some of the harshest reviews, few even called it “the worst movie” of 2013.
But, the public had something else in mind. Though, the film opened to average response, Shahid Kapoor still has a reason to celebrate, as R… Rajkumar is Shahid Kapoor’s biggest opening day collection so far. The Prabhu Deva directed film garnered Rs 88.6 million (8.86 crore) nett on Friday. Mausam with Rs 70 million (7 crore) nett was Shahid Kapoor’s biggest opener since 2011.
R… Rajkumar worked well in single screens. Regions dominated by single screen audience fared well as compared to the multiplex business. North Indian circuits saw dull response, while Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar and Rajasthan saw good business.
R… Rajkumar collected in the range of Rs 83 million (8.30 crore) nett on Saturday, and approximately Rs 106 million (10.60 crore) nett on Sunday. The weekend total for R… Rajkumar is in the range of Rs 277.6 million (27.76 crore) nett.
On Monday, the film saw a huge drop in multiplexes, while business from Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat flowed on. R… Rajkumar collected in the range of Rs 47.8 million (4.78 crore) nett approximately on Monday. The regions where R… Rajkumar opened low remained low, and saw a downward trend. Due to a working day, several circuits saw a heavy fall in collections as well.
It seems that Gujarat audience has loved the Shahid Kapoor starrer, and hence the film has maintained pace in this circuit.
The four-day total collection of R… Rajkumar is now in the range of Rs 325.4 million (32.54 crore) nett.
