MUMBAI: Prabhu Deva’s ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’, produced by Tips Industries Pvt Ltd and featuring newcomer Girish Kumar opposite Shruti Haasan and Nikhil Advani’s ‘D-Day’ are almost neck-to-neck at the box office, on Day 5.
As reported (Read report here), ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ began its box office journey with collections in the range of Rs 34.5 million (Rs 3.45 crore) net on Day 1. The first weekend brought in box office returns of approximately Rs 125 million (Rs 12.50 crore) net.
The five day total for ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ stands at Rs 213.8 million (Rs 21.38 crore) net
In comparison, -D-Day’, produced by DAR Motion Pictures and directed by Nikhil Advani, has seen a slightly less impressive box office fate.
As reported, on Day 1, the Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan, Arjun Rampal, Huma Qureshi and Shruti Haasan- starrer has seen low-to-medium box office returns. ‘D-Day’ opened with collections of approximately Rs 26.8 million (Rs 2.68 crore) net on 19 July, 2013 (Friday).
Day 2 and Day 3’s combined collections were in the range of Rs 70 million (Rs 7 crore) net, taking the three day opening total to Rs 96.8 million (Rs 9.68 crore) net.
The 5 day total for ‘D-Day’ is in the range of Rs 201.5 million (Rs 20.15 crore) net.
