After an impressive start at the box office, ‘Welcome Back’ has performed exceptionally well. The comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee is witnessing large audiences at the screens. It was almost predicted that ‘Welcome Back’ might do average business at the box office, but the film has surprisingly done well in the metros.
Coming to box office collections, ‘Welcome Back’ had a good weekend opening and collected Rs. 50 crore( 500 million) net approx. With a massive weekend opening at the box office the weekday seemed to be a smooth way for the film. The crowd pullers of the film were its central characters played by Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal and Anil Kapoor. The successful record of the prequel of the film also was a good advantage to the film’s box office collections.
Relying much on word of mouth publicity, the film saw family audience at the screens. It was being said that absence of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif might prove to be a hindrance to the film’s business however no such thing happened. The two actors are replaced by John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in the sequel.
‘Welcome Back’ retaining its comic timing to the core is labeled as a delightful no brains watch. Coming to its weekday collections, ‘Welcome Back’ collected Rs. 7.25 crore (72 million) net approx. on Monday. Monday being a weekday saw a huge drop in the collections as compared to the weekends. Further the film saw another dip in its box office earnings on Tuesday which was its fifth day of release. ‘Welcome Back’ managed to collect Rs. 6.25 crore ( 62 million) net approx. on Tuesday.
The total collection of ‘Welcome Back’ for the five days of its release is Rs. 64 crore ( 640 million) net approx. Showing immense positive results, ‘Welcome Back’ has surpassed all expectations and has done extremely well. The film has already paved a good way in its weekend and therefore a fall in the weekday collections might not be a massive problem.
