MUMBAI: ‘Barfi!’ is one of the few critically acclaimed films that ended up being loved by audiences too. It eventually landed up in the Rs. 100 crore club too.
Now Anurag Basu has been rewarded for it. He has signed a Rs 12 crore deal with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. A source said, “A deal has been signed between the two and Anurag has been offered Rs 12 crore and a partnership. The project details will be discussed soon.” The film will be a joint production between T-Series and Anurag Basu’s own Picture Shuru Productions.
Anurag Basu already has two films lined up – both with Ranbir Kapoor, his ‘Barfi!’ star. While his next film is called ‘Jagga Jasoos’, there is also a biopic of Kishore Kumar in the works.
On the other hand, Bhushan Kumar is on a signing spree for his banner. Besides Anurag Basu, T-Series also has four films with Umesh Shukla, the director of ‘OMG’ and ‘Bhootnath 2’, a sequel to ‘Bhootnath’, in association with BR Films. Then there is ‘Creature 3D’ with Vikram Bhatt as well as a sequel to ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin’.
Bhushan Kumar also has films lined up with Madhur Bhandarkar, who last made ‘Heroine’, Mohit Suri and Milan Luthria.
