Ever since Mary Shelley’s classic Gothic novel about the eccentric scientist Victor Frankenstein and his drive to create immortality by bringing back the dead was published in 1818, it created a massive frenzy all over the world. The novel completely blew away the avid readers and then art lovers who took to cinema with the Gothic story. And now we have a thriller drama Hollywood film based on the same story all set to hit the theatres. Yes, we are talking about Victor Frankenstein, starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe.
In the film’s first trailer, we see James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe in a whole new electrifying avatar. The film tells the story of a narcissistic scientist Victor Frankenstein (played by James McAvoy) and his equally brilliant sidekick Igor (played by Daniel Radcliffe). In the trailer, we see Frankenstein with his teen nebbish protégé Igor in a lab, fusing over something and then totally lost in their secret project. Soon, we realize that it’s all about monster and these two are nothing but the makers of what was soon going to turn into their own worst nightmare when Frankenstein says, “”We shall create life out of death.”
Unlike Mary Shelley’s famous character from her book, this scientist is not just mad. He is charming but arrogant. However, that didn’t stop him from impressing the audiences. Frankenstein would be nothing without Igor, as they both share the same vision of helping humanity through their groundbreaking research into immortality. But as the trailer progresses, we witness Frankenstein’s research going way too far as all the hell breaks loose and the creation starts to chase his own creator to put them to rest, once and for all.
In the trailer, we also meet Sherlock star Andrew Scott, who is seen in a yet new avatar as he plays the role of Frankenstein’s police nemesis named Roderick Turpin. Roderick is smart and suspects the mad scientist and his sidekick for their wrong doings. Soon enough after the tragic event, things take wild turn for Daniel and James, as they are being electrocuted, chased by monsters and hunted by the police. The film’s trailer also introduced us to the beautiful lady in the film, Jessica Brown Findlay as Lorelei.
After looking at the trailer, we have to give it to the film’s makers for every minor detail that was clearly presented to us. We just cannot wait for the film to hit the theatres. Directed by Paul McGuigan, Victor Frankenstein is all set to hit the theatres in November 25, 2015.
