When ISRO Scientists Watched The Martian!

The-MartinHollywood’s much awaited science fiction ‘The Martian’ is all set to release soon, and a special premiere was held for a team of Indian scientists from ISRO recently in India. Along with ISRO, a bunch of scientists from NASA were also present. Since Ridley Scott’s film takes us through the journey of an astronaut who gets stranded on Mars, it was an apt film to be showcased to ISRO who have made the country proud by successfully implementing the Mars Orbit Mission last year.

To celebrate the same, Ridley Scott had a special message for the ISRO team. He stated, “Namaste, esteemed scientists of the ISRO! I am Ridley Scott, director of the movie which you are about to watch. I guess I have something in common with most of you here; and that’s the love for science and space, a subject which has always fascinated me, as some of you would have seen in my earlier films. Heartiest congratulations to you and India on the first anniversary of the successful Mars orbit mission (September 24).

Apparently the team of ISRO absolutely loved the film and the technology used in it. As the team of ‘The Martian’ received guidance from NASA during making the film, the Indian scientists could feel the essence of it. ‘The Martian’ sees the struggle of an astronaut who is stranded on Mars after surviving a deadly storm with his group. During the process of emergency evacuation, astronaut Mark Watney played by Matt Damon is left behind as his crew had no other choice. While everyone on Earth assumes that he is dead, Mark is on his own mission to survive on Mars with supplies enough to keep him alive only for 30 days.

‘The Martian’ also aims at spreading the message, ‘Every human being has a basic instinct: To help each other out.’ Ridley Scott fans are also of an opinion that ‘The Martian‘s’ trailer gave them vibes similar to his previous film Prometheus. Directed by Ridley Scott, ‘The Martians’ also stars actors Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Pena, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stand, Donald Glover and Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film is set to hit theaters on October 2, 2015 in India.
