Bravado to create merchandise for Tina Turner

Mumbai: Universal Music Group’s merchandising division Bravado has entered into an agreement to manufacture and distribute merchandise in support of eight-time Grammy Award winner Tina Turner’s upcoming world tour.

The announcement was made by Bravado vice president, A&R Tom Donnell.

Turner’s most recent tour, Twenty Four Seven, took place in 2000 and was the highest grossing of the year and the fifth biggest grossing tour in US history. She makes her long-awaited return to the stage this fall, touring throughout North America and Europe, kicking off in Kansas City on 1 October.

The performances will feature greatest hits culled from her career. Turner will spend the latter part of the year traveling across the US and Canada, venture over to Europe in early 2009 and wrap up with dates in Manchester, England next April.

"It speaks of Tina’s continued appeal that she has enjoyed such an illustrious career spanning so many years. We are honored that she’s chosen to partner with Bravado to support this exciting tour and to bring her signature sense of style to fans everywhere," said Donnell.

Turner is considered one of the most successful female artists of all time, with record sales exceeding 180 million worldwide. She has sold more concert tickets than any other solo performer in history. To date, Turner has 22 US Billboard top 40 singles and 31 US top 40 R&B singles.
