Gold Coast lures Hollywood stars

MUMBAI: Hollywood celebrities are flocking to the Gold Coast this year as the local film industry enjoys an economic boom.

Jodie Foster, Ethan Hawke, Debra Messing and Matthew McConaughey are just a few of the A Lister Hollywood names filming this year on the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast was chosen to shoot the family adventure, Nim’s Island because of the diverse locations situated close to Warner Roadshow studios.

The Gold Coast City Council assisted with the Nim’s Island production team in obtaining necessary location and filming permits.

Economic and Cultural Development Chair, Cr Jan Grew, said the Gold Coast was extremely film friendly, having unique filming locations ranging from lush hinterland ranges to stunning beaches.

Grew said, “Warner Roadshow Studios at Coomera provide a full range of film production services, including state of the art editing suites, award winning sound recordists and even a permanent outdoor water tank, perfect for water based filming.”

“The water tank at Warner Roadshow Studios is the only one in Australia and played a pivotal role in the creation of Nim’s Island and Andy Tennant’s Fool’s Gold, starring Matthew McConaughey,” she added.
